Cleethorpes caravan park charging £4k a week in August as Brits prepare for UK holidays

Many Brits who have decided not to jet off on a foreign holiday due to the uncertainty surrounding overseas travel are looking to book a staycation.

The seaside town of Cleethorpes in North East Lincolnshire, which is home to sandy beaches and some impressive scenery, is one of the UK destinations which will be looking to lure in tourists this summer.

Haven Thorpe Park Holiday Centre, is usually popular with families looking for somewhere to stay, but the price of one privately-rented caravan is raising a few eyebrows.

A peak-season stay in the caravan this August could set you back up to £561 a night, reports Grimsby Live.

On the park's website, the description states: "An eight berth self-catering Caravan at Thorpe Park Haven Holiday Park in Cleethorpes which is only a 10 minute walk to the beach.

This Cleethorpes could set a family back almost £4,000 for a one-week stay in August (Haven)

""The caravan is double glazed with heating and has three bedrooms including two double beds and four singles. As well, the caravan comes equipped with two toilets.

"It has a fully equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer, microwave, full size gas cooker with four hobs, electric kettle and toaster. The gas combi boiler provides instant hot water in a separate shower room with hand sink.

"This caravan also boasts an outside decking area complete with outdoor furniture with contactless check in via a key safe."

A privately owned caravan is advertised for nearly £4,000 for a seven night stay in August at Thorpe Park (Haven)

Site passes to access Thorpe Park's facilities, including the crazy golf course and the fishing lake, are not included in the price.

The three-bedroom caravan is being advertised on the vrbo.com website and the owner is unknown.

In comparison, a seven-night stay for eight people booked through Thorpe Park's website will cost you around £1,220.

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he "very confident" two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine will serve as a "liberator" for overseas travel.

He has promised an update on whether fully-vaccinated British holidaymakers will be able to travel without having to self-isolate on their return within the next few days.

He said: "I’m very confident that the double jabs will be a liberator and they will enable people to travel.

“We’ll be setting out a lot more about the detail of that in the course of July, in the course of the next few days, about how we see it working.

"But there’s no doubt at all that once you’ve got two jabs you are in a much better position.

"Everybody who is frustrated about travel over the summer - double jabs will be a liberator."
