'Clearly' - Nottingham Forest ace settles Cardiff City penalty appeal once and for all

Nottingham Forest were handed a spot of good fortune on Tuesday night as Cardiff City were denied what they felt was a clear penalty.

Jacob Murphy went to ground after a challenge from right-back Matty Cash and big appeals followed from those in Blue.

Although Cash seemingly poked the ball away, similar incidents have seen penalties awarded in the past both against and for Forest.

Some Reds fans felt the number eleven was fortunate to escape the wrath of the referee - but now the right-back himself has taken to Twitter to clear the air on the incident once and for all, confirming with video footage that he DID get a toe on the ball.

"I don’t know how people say I’m a lucky boy," said Cash on social media.

"I won the ball and his foot clearly stands on mine."

Forest went on to win that game 1-0 thanks to a Tiago Silva goal later in the evening.

They now sit third in the SkyBet Championship, three points behind Leeds United who play this evening.

“It was a fantastic performance and a great result,” said Sabri Lamouchi at full time.

“The lads deserved this victory. But what a game - what effort and sacrifice from everyone.

“Probably with more quality and the right decisions at the right times, we could have scored one or two more and controlled the game more.

“It was tough until the end, but I am so happy with the result and the performance.”
