Some residents of PAC Wescott, Stockton remain in temporary accommodation after the roof over the Ibis Wing Dining Room was partially blown off, causing damage to other Ibis Wing roof areas.

Around 30 residents in the upstairs Ibis Wing were moved to safety in other parts of PAC Wescott after the incident and the home has secured temporary accommodation for 23 residents at HammondCare Waratah.

It comes 16 months after similar damage occurred to an adjacent section of roof in a wind storm in August 2019.

Ausgrid has reconnected almost all of the 22,000 properties who lost power on Monday night.

Spokesperson Emma Shanks said less than 500 were still without power due to severe damage in Sandgate which has taken longer to rectify than other areas.

However she said many of these were businesses and crews were on the ground communicating with those affected. The company hopes to have them reconnected later on Wednesday.
