Cleaning whizz shares how to get your air fryer looking 'brand new' once more

A clever air fryer recipe expert has shared how she gets her beloved kitchen gadget gleaming once more and has encouraged others to give her thrifty, easy-to-follow hack a try for themselves.

Ciara, who regularly shares healthy air fryer and slow cooker recipes online, vows that this go-to tip gets her air fryer looking "brand new" and ready to go again, even after getting coated with sticky sauce.

Those who have enough housework to deal with will be pleased to know that this method requires hardly any scrubbing whatsoever, and you also won't have to spend a bomb on pricey cleaning products.

Taking to TikTok, where she goes by the username @thetummyfairy, Ciara - who'd found herself grappling with sticky chicken sauce - hailed the hack as a "safe and easy way to clean your air fryer".

Taking her followers through each step, she continued: "So just put a squirt of washing up liquid, a quarter cup of baking soda, and you're going to fill that with boiling water right up to the top.

"Leave it for 20 minutes, then pour it all out, rinse it with warm water, dry it with a paper towel and there you go, it's like brand new!"

According to Ciara, this is a safer version of another viral air fryer cleaning hack where people "air fry chemicals", a method Ciara warns is a "fire risk and creates toxic gas".

Of course, it's important that you always make sure to unplug your air fryer and leave it to cool before you start delving into your cleaning cupboard, no matter how safe your products may be.

You can buy a 500ml bottle of Magnum Citrus Crush Washing Up Liquid from Aldi for 65p, and a 200g packet of baking soda from Tesco, also for 65p, making this a relatively thrifty tip.
