Cleaning whizz shares 80p trick to get stains out of white shirts - including make-up

Some stains are harder than others to get out from shirts but one Facebook user has revealed a nifty 80p hack to get rid of the trickier stains from your smart whites. Taking to the popular Facebook group 'Mrs Hinch Made Me Do It,' cleaning tips are often shared amongst its members and one user recently shared a post of a stained shirt collar.

In the post, the unnamed user wrote: "I’m so sorry if this picture is grossing you out but can anybody please help me with getting these collars back to the way they once were?

"This is an ongoing battle I have and I have ruined several shirts by bleaching it.

"This one is about to go in the rubbish bin. I’m so over these collars."

In response, many were quick to jump in and give their advice to them, sharing many different soaps and other products to try.

But they claim that the key to getting rid of the stains comes from none other than a nail brush.

One person wrote: "I used to put soap on the collar and use a little nail brush and scrub, it would come up lovely."

Another keen cleaning whizz agreed and wrote: "Fairy liquid and a nail brush scrub it in all the sweat stains as this has already been bleached, may not work but try on future shirts I used to work in a dry cleaners and this is how we did it."

And the best bit of this neat trick is that it is so simple and you can pick up a nail brush for just 80p from supermarkets like Asda.

You can also use Elbow Grease spray for this trick as one suggested: "Fairy liquid original and Elbow Grease spray rub together, leave for half an hour or so then wash as normal in the machine."

Many others were quick to point out the benefits of Elbow Grease products so after a short wait those nasty stains should make the shirts look as good as new.
