Now in a bid to help others, a self-confessed "pro organizer" from New York City, who goes by the name Neat Caroline, has listed some pretty handy tips for when you're sorting out your home.

And with a combined total of 1.4 million likes on her TikTok videos, it's safe to say she's a pro.

So what are these tips?

1. Toilet Brush

After cleaning the toilet many people will just put the brush straight back into its holder.

However the cleaning enthusiast is warning against this telling people they should instead let it air dry by placing in underneath the toilet seat to secure it.

This way it doesn't breed bacteria in the holder.

2. Where to start cleaning

Some people begin with the floors however her tip is to start from the top and work downwards.

That way if you're dusting or cleaning counters, all the dirt and any crumbs falls on to the floor which you can later clean as the final step.

The last thing anyone wants is to have to re-do their floors as we all know they can be a bit of a pain.

3. Keep an eye on how much you're using

Many of us don't know the right amount of liquid to use when it comes to cleaning our dishes as well as clothing.

However Caroline recommends using just one tablespoon per load but urged people to check the label for instructions.

This is because if you use too much, it may end up leaving a "gross and soapy residue" on your clothes and potentially strain your washing machine.

4. Spray hack for better results

When it comes to wiping down the counter, many of us spray the surface itself and then go in with a paper towel or cleaning cloth of our choice.

However Caroline recommends spraying any product onto a cloth first in order to "prevent streaky surfaces and product build up."

5. Microwave

When it comes to cleaning the inside of your microwave don't just wipe it down.

Instead get a microwaveable jug and pour in a "cup of 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water" for two minutes.

She explains: "The steam from the vinegar will make it easier to remove all the residue."

Taking to the comments people thanked her for the "nice tips".

In response one said: "Another cleaning mistake: Don't use bleach products on your toilets, this ruins the porcelain which can lead to brown streaks."

Another yelled: "WHO CLEANS THE FLOOR 1ST? WHO?"

A third added: "A tablespoon? Really? I think I’ve been pouring at least a cup of liquid detergent every wash!"
