Cleaning guru shares 'genius' £2 hack for keeping bins smelling fresh

One woman has revealed a simple way to stop your bin from making the whole kitchen smell bad, which people have described as "genius".

Kitchen bins have the tendency to smell unpleasant, and it's hard to banish any aromas unless they're emptied every day. But thanks to one cleaning fan's cheap and easy hack, this no longer has to be a problem.

Lifestyle content creator @aestethicallyinhome has wowed her 500,000 followers by revealing one thing you can do to your bin to stop any smells from wafting out - and it's cost-effective too, the Mirror reports.

By using a simple gel toilet disk, the cleaning guru promises that any unpleasant bin smells will soon be a thing of the past.

In the video, she said: "If you are anything like me and hate the smell of bins, add a essential oils disc to the top of your bin. It lasts a good while!

"I just usually change when the bin needs washing. You can definitely smell it when you add it to your bin. Goodbye smelly bins."

These toilet disks can be bought from most supermarkets for as little as £2, meaning you won't have to spend a fortune on a more pleasant smelling kitchen.

In the comments, people were quick to praise the woman for sharing the "genius" hack, and were eager to try it out for themselves.

One said; "It works! I have been trying it for about a month. The smell is so much better."

And another added: "That's actually really smart."

Some people even wondered if the trick would work elsewhere in the house, with one joking: "How do I put it on my brothers feet?"

Several cleaning fans also offered their own solutions for banishing bad smells coming from kitchen bins.

One person wrote: "Get a large cotton pad with ‘neat’ zoflora on and place it in the bottom."

And another suggested adding a few drops of essential oils instead of Zoflora, or even using coffee grinds as a cheaper alternative.
