If your pillows are covered in unsightly yellow stains then you're in luck, as a cleaning guru has shared a natural remedy you can use to 'bleach it out'.
Whether they are caused by a buildup of sweat, makeup or other products you apply to your face and hair, it's easy to see why people would prefer not to splash out on store-bought cleaning products to remove the common marks.
But it's not always so simple to remove them without help, as urea, a harmless byproduct of sweat, can break down into ammonia and contribute to those yellow streaks.
Fortunately, Mrs Hinch's followers have the answer. Fans of cleaning influencer Sophie Hinchcliffe revealed the simple tip after a fellow social media user took to Facebook group Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips looking for advice.
"I have seen somewhere a remedy for yellow stains on pillows. Can anyone help?" she asked.
Fortunately, fans had several recommendations to share if you're keen to keep the pillows, including an easy, natural approach that won't cost you a penny.
"Someone in the group suggested to put it in the sun. Takes a bit of time, but mine is getting very white," one commenter revealed.
A second wrote: "Sunshine. Italian Mum's tried and true fixit. Sometimes she would throw soapy water over it again, until she was satisfied. Then rewash and dry. Yes, may take days or more, but worth it."
Meanwhile, someone else recommended: "Sunlight soap any stain and hang in the sun, it will bleach the stain out."
Other responders suggested investing in pillow protectors to prevent recurring stains. "Buy new ones and pillow protectors," read one reply, and someone else wrote: "Wash in a washing machine then once dried, use pillow protectors."
Another added: "My husband stains pillows - I use elbow grease and use protector."
