Cleaning giant Mitie uses nanotechnology spray to get offices back to work in coronavirus fight

Cleaning giant Mitie is deploying nanotechnology to help get workers back into the office.

The facilities manager is using a spray called Citrox, which aims to keep surfaces free of Covid-19 by filling minuscule gaps with nanoparticles.

Citrox has to be applied by trained biotechnicians and will be charged at a premium price but is designed to work for up to six months at a time.

It is awaiting formal certification on Covid-19, but has already completed tests proving it kills pathogens such as MRSA and Salmonella.

Mitie, which has the sole rights to use Citrox from its German manufacturer, is yet to formally announce the tie-up but will launch it as soon as it can to help offices get staff back to work.
