Cleaning fan shares 'handy' trick to keep vegetables fresh for longer in fridge

A cleaning enthusiast has shared a "handy" tip to keep vegetables fresh for longer in the fridge without going off, and others have said "it really works".

The hack involves wrapping the vegetable in tin foil before placing it into the fridge, which supposedly slows the rate at which they decay.

In an image detailing the trick, it is claimed that doing do can keep veggies fresh and crisp for weeks.

The woman who shared the picture to the Cleaning tips and tricks Facebook group also wrote: "Handy to know".

Since being shared on Wednesday morning, the post has received more than 650 likes and over 230 comments from fellow users sharing their thoughts.

The majority were positive, with one writing: "Thanks for this, it will save money and waste. I will definitely do this and share this information."

A second revealed: "My neighbour mentioned this to me on weekend, she wraps her carrots in foil and she's noticed they last longer".

"It really works," claimed a third.

"It actually works," a fourth echoed.

Meanwhile, a fifth commented: "Thank you for sharing this!! I’m going to give it a go as I bought some fresh last night."

Other users weren't so keen on the idea, however, and one stated: "Just don't buy it, I'm not a lover of it".

"Tin foil is a very limited environmental resource use it sparingly and recycle please," a second argued.

Some even suggested alternative ways of keeping veggies fresh for longer.

"Or you can cut and store in jar of water ,works for carrots as well," one said.

A second wrote: "I wrap mine in clingfilm also lasts weeks".
