Cleaning expert says you can banish food stains from oven with one basic ingredient

The oven seems to be a festering place for grease and grime, but cleaning experts have shared the one ingredient to help banish those tough stains.

The Express reports that Mrs Hinch fans have solved the oven rack conundrum, as they have found one product that gets the black splotches and greasy stains out. Taking to a Facebook cleaning group, a man asked for suggestions on how to clean his oven rack.

The man wrote: “Could anyone help me with tips for cleaning ovens, especially the oven racks?” Among the hundreds of comments stating how they clean their own ovens, one reply stood out.

The most popular suggestion was to use washing powder to get rid of stains. One Facebook user wrote: “I put mine in the laundry tub with a couple of scoops of laundry powder and very hot water to cover them. Let them soak for an hour or so. Then use a cloth to wipe over. This works brilliantly. They shine up like a diamond, it’s magic.”

Another said: “Put them in the bath with very hot water and half a box of biological washing powder. Leave overnight. The tough food stains will wash off in the morning.”

And a third wrote: “Laundry powder in hot water and submerge over racks. Always did it for me.”

More comments read: “I put oven racks in the bath with hot water and a bit of laundry powder, leave to soak and the grime comes off without effort so there’s no need to scrub.”

Another agreed, saying: “Soak in the bath with lots of biological washing powder and some hot water and leave overnight.”

Others said: I used to place the racks on a bath towel in the bathtub, soak powder on the racks and leave for at least two or three hours, depending on the grease. This is an old-fashioned way but saves on the labor.

“Then rinse off with hot water. Of course you need to use a cloth to remove the grease scum. This did the trick for me.”

And one added: “Put in hot water in the bathtub with a couple scoops of laundry detergent for about three hours and then wipe off, believe it works wonders.”

And finally, one concluded: “Soak racks in hot water and shake with laundry powder all over them. They will practically wipe clean.”

Experts at Oven Clean agreed with all these suggestions, as they said: “This method is a great oven rack cleaner.

“Whilst we think that giving the shelves a quick once-over with some washing up liquid and hot water is the quickest and best way to keep them clean, this method means you hardly have to scrub at all! Which has to be worth something.

Other Mrs Hinch fans suggested using a dishwasher tablet to remove any stubborn stains on oven racks.

One Facebook user wrote: “Get a dishwasher tablet. Wet one end and then rub over the rack. It’s also great for cleaning hobs and the glass door without scratching.”

Another said: “Put a towel in the bath, place them in and add dishwasher tablets and hot water, then leave them to soak for a while.”

And a third wrote: “In the bath and soak with a dishwasher tablet. Leave for half an hour and rinse with shower.”

And one more person added: “In the bath and soak with a dishwasher tablet. Leave for half an hour and rinse with shower.”
