Cleaning expert explains little-known trick to remove yellow stains from pillows

A cleaning expert has shared a little known trick for how people can remove yellow stains from pillows.

Life hacker has explained the stains are unavoidable, but shared some easy ways how you can keep pillows looking fresh. The cleaning gurus said the most common reason behind the stains is sweat, which seeps into the pillow case - as Mirror Online reports.

However, this isn't the only cause as moisture from wet or greasy hair can also lead to the stain developing. The experts added: "Some types of makeup and skincare products can also be behind the yellow stains. It could also be drool."

The cleaning gurus said the key to removing the yellow stains is to act fast. They also shared a little-known hack you can use to quickly get to work on removing any yellowing - with a mixture of baking soda and water.

They said: You can start off by spot treating the stains with either a store-bought stain removal spray or cream or with a paste made out of a mixture of baking soda and water."

You can also keep stains at bay for longer with the help of a waterproof pillow protector, which will stop moisture from making it onto your pillows in the first place.

Experts added: "Putting a waterproof pillow protector on before your pillowcase can help prevent a lot of the discoloration."
