Cleaning expert advises living by 'two-day wear' rule for underpants

The cost of living crisis has seen many experts give tips for the most efficient ways to use a washing machine. Now a cleaning expert has given advice on how to be more efficient with your underwear.

Queen of cleaning, Aggie Mackenzie, has stated that we all wash our underwear too much and has offered tips for extending wear time and keeping them fresher longer. The TV personality who presents Channel 4's 'How Clean is Your House?' has urged women to use one simple tip for their knickers, the Mirror reports.

"By using panty liners it means that you can keep your pants fresher for much longer, so then you can change your knickers every other day," Aggie told The Sun.

She also added a tip for bras however it is dependent on how much you perspire. She said: "As a general rule, washing your bras every three wears will keep them fresh."

The expert then offered an overall tip for all garments that come under underwear. Firstly, she advises to hang freshly-washed panties outside in the sun.

The UV rays of the sun are an excellent and natural way of getting rid of bacteria and smells. Sunny days for drying laundry may be limited however, so Aggie suggests using a steamer or an iron to banish smells and kill bacteria.

For children's clothing, she also claims these don't need to be washed as often as grown-ups as they smell a lot less. The cleaning guru advises that parents should spot-treat spills and stains rather than heading for the washing machine.
