Clean Bandit star Grace Chatto has blasted ministers for their “devastating” lack of care for the arts during the pandemic.
Glastonbury bosses called on the Government to offer financial support while they planned for the event amid uncertainty and without cancellation insurance – shortly before June’s festival was called off.
Grace, 35, says: “More help should be given, especially if they’re asking for it. The whole live music industry is devastated by this pandemic. Many musicians, crew and festival organisers are just having to shut up and find new lines of work, which is really so sad. It does seem like there’s not much care for the arts at all from the Tories, which isn’t a new thing. But it’s such a devastating thing now.

“It’s concerning but I’m trying to be positive and optimistic and I do think the industry will be able to return.”
Speaking of positive, the band’s cheerful tracks were recently graded with a 95% positivity rating by Spotify – and new single Higher, featuring Iann Dior, out today, is just as uplifting.
“I’m not sure how they worked it out,” laughs Grace.

“But we always try to have some humour and fun in our music.
“It’s good to bring some joy.”
