Clay Pit Lane closure extended for repairs to Premier Inn cladding after high winds

Clay Pit Lane is to stay closed for two more days while emergency repairs are made to a building that was damaged in last Friday's high winds.

Cladding was blown from the Premier Inn shortly before 6.30pm on Friday February 21.

The road was closed as a precaution and work started to make the building safe.

It was hoped the road would be opened by the start of this week but more repairs are still needed and Leeds City Council have now said it will not be open again until Friday afternoon.

Workmen could be seen fixing the side of the building from a cherry picker parked on Clay Pit Lane this afternoon.

In a tweet, the council's Resilience and Emergency Team said: "Update re Clay Pit Lane. The road closure will remain in both directions until Friday afternoon 28th February. Diversion routes in place."
