Clay Matthews will be inducted into Browns Ring of Honor

For fans who grew up in Northeast Ohio in the late 1970s and ’80s, no player was more synonymous with the Cleveland Browns than Clay Matthews. We fought in youth football over who would get to wear his iconic No. 57 jersey.

This season, that number and the man who wore it best in Cleveland will be enshrined in the Browns Ring of Honor.

The team will induct Matthews in front of his son Clay III when the Los Angeles Rams visit Cleveland in Week 3. There will be a ceremony at halftime of the nationally televised Sunday night contest.

Matthews played in Cleveland for 16 seasons and made four Pro Bowls. He has been a semifinalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame three times, including this year.
