Claudy crash closes road as drivers urged to take care in treacherous conditions

Drivers are being urged to take care in 'dreadful conditions' as the PSNI close a road after a serious crash .

Emergency services are at the scene of the collision on the Foreglen Road between Glenshane Road, Claudy turn off and Baranailt Road.

The road is closed in both directions and police described the crash as serious.

A PSNI officer said: "Avoid area if possible. All three emergency services on scene. Traffic being diverted through Claudy."

The Met Office has put a yellow weather warning for heavy rain in place across the country on Friday.

The PSNI said: "Motorists, weather conditions are dreadful in many areas this morning with a Met Office yellow weather warning in place for heavy rain. Please reduce your speed to suit the conditions and exercise care on the roads."

In Bangor, one lane of the Ballycrochan Road is partially closed, close to the roundabout due to a fallen tree.

Please exercise caution when driving in the area.
