Claudio Ranieri is in talks with Fulham chiefs on Thursday amid indications he could be sacked after just three months in charge.
The Italian was due at the club’s Motspur Park training ground this morning, with some at the club expecting him to be dismissed. Wednesday’s 2-0 defeat at Southampton left Fulham 10 points adrift of safety, leaving Ranieri on the brink.
Angry fans chanted “you don’t know what you’re doing” at Ranieri on Wednesday, while telling the 67-year-old: “We don’t want you here”.
The players have also shown little faith in the methods of Ranieri, who led Leicester to the Premier League title in 2016 but has made no impact at all at Craven Cottage.
Owner Shahid Khan described the appointment as “risk-free” but a swift return to the Championship now looks inevitable, with matches against Chelsea, Leicester, Liverpool and Manchester City next month.
First-team coach Scott Parker, the former Fulham and England midfielder, would be a possible option to take charge until the end of the season.
