Claudio Ranieri 'on' Celtic shortlist and the Italian is 'tempted' by the job

Claudio Ranieri is on Celtic’s shortlist to be the club’s next permanent manager, according to reports in Italy.

Leicester City ’s former Premier League-winning boss is currently in charge at Roma but he announced at the weekend he will not continue with the Serie A giants next season.

Now Calciomercatoweb have claimed the 67-year-old is one name in the frame for the Parkhead hierarchy.

It has been reported the Celtic job is a "temptation" for Ranieri, who has managed clubs such as Chelsea, Juventus and Inter Milan during a long and successful career.

Well-known bosses such as Andres Villas-Boas and even Jose Mourinho have been linked with replacing interim boss Neil Lennon but these have been dismissed by Celtic sources.

Lennon has been told the job is his until the end of the season and he has already seen the team over the line to seal 8 in a row.

The Irishman would deliver the treble Treble with victory over Hearts in the Scottish Cup Final on May 25 but support for him among the fans landing the job full time has waned further since the 2-0 defeat to Rangers at the weekend.

Lennon is no longer the favourite for the job among the bookies with Rafa Benitez now odds-on at 5/6.
