Claudio Ranieri issues Chelsea vs Leicester City FA Cup final prediction

Claudio Ranieri admits he will have mixed feelings when Chelsea lock horns with Leicester City in the FA Cup final this afternoon (5.15pm).

Beneath the famous arch at Wembley Stadium, the Italian - currently in charge at Serie A side Sampdoria - will see two of his former clubs go head-to-head for domestic silverware.

It's shaping up to be a tense double-header between current managers Thomas Tuchel and Brendan Rodgers.

Following the FA Cup showpiece, they return to Premier League action at Stamford Bridge in a game that could have a huge impact on the top-four race - with a place in the Champions League for next season at stake.

For now, though, attentions are fixed firmly on the oldest and most prestigious cup competition of them all.

Ranieri, who managed Chelsea between 2000 and 2004, famously defied 5000/1 odds to win the Premier League with Leicester during the 2015/2016 season.

Of course, the 69-year-old has strong links to both clubs - and Ranieri admits he will be 'sitting on the fence' when they get down to business at Wembley this afternoon.

He was also responsible for bringing N'Golo Kante to the Premier League - with the ex-Leicester midfielder now a Chelsea player after forming part of Ranieri's title-winning squad at the King Power Stadium.

During an interview on BT Sport, where he was quizzed on having mixed feelings ahead of the game, Ranieri said: "Yes, this is true.

"I am split. Chelsea was my first team in England and Leicester was something to me that I cannot say. It will always be Leicester. I'm split and I'm happy for who will win this afternoon. I'm also sad for who will lose."
