Claudio Pizarro states desire to work with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp

Former Bayern Munich and Chelsea forward Claudio Pizarro says he's like to add Jurgen Klopp to impressive list of managers he's worked under.

Peru international Pizarro is still playing top-flight football at the age of 41, and has featured 16 times for Werder Bremen this season during what is his fourth spell at the club.

Pizarro has also had two different spells at Bayern Munich and played in the Premier League for Chelsea, ensuring that is one of the select group of footballers in the world who can say he has been managed by both Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho.

And he says he's love to add Klopp to that list, although accepts that at his age that would now mean he'd be doing so as an observer and not a player.

“Unfortunately Jurgen Klopp is missing from the list, I have never been allowed to work with him,’’ the 85-times capped international told German publication Weser-Kurier.

“That would have appealed to me very much. I hope that I can get to know Klopp in the future and that I can also see his training sessions.

“Without a doubt, I would have liked it very much to work with such a trainer. I find Klopp totally exciting from a player’s perspective.”

Klopp's "totally exciting" brand of football led to Liverpool winning the Champions League last season, and the stand on the cusp of the Premier League title during the current suspension of football.

Pizarro's Werder Bremen, meanwhile, sit in the relegation zone in the Bundesliga, which could return to action soon as clubs are beginning to start training again.

Werder are one place off the bottom of the table, and four points adrift of the relegation playoff place.
