Claudine Keane reveals fear of earthquakes and terror attacks while living in America

Claudine Keane revealed she has become terrified of earthquakes, having experienced two while living in LA.

The mother-of-two also admitted she has also become more concerned about gun violence and terror attacks after her son was put on lock-down at his school during a shooting.

Claudine, who lived in California for years while her husband Robbie Keane played for LA Galaxy, said they were lucky their stateside home escaped the wreckage of the recent wildfires.

However, opening up about other traumatic experiences while living in the US, she told Irish Daily Mirror: “The only thing I feared was earthquakes.

“We were there when two earthquakes happened.

“The first one happened in the middle of the night and I could feel the bed move and then the next morning I woke up and thought ‘is this house haunted?’

“Then I found out what happened.

“The second one was scarier, it was in the middle of the day and the whole building rolled back and forth.

“This was probably about three or four years ago. It was actually quite scary.

“Twice I experienced it. Thankfully there was no big damage done or anything but it is still scary.”

Derry Girls star Saoirse-Monica Jackson says show's echoing of present political turmoil is 'accidental'

The former Miss Ireland contestant went on to share her concerns around terrorism and gun violence due to past experiences.

Explaining an incident when her son, Robert Junior, nine, was put on lockdown in his school, she said: “The first one was all the schools got shut down in LA. Robert was in the school but obviously all the schools got shut down.

“Even when they’re five and six, they learn what to do in that circumstance, and even that and the fact that they know what to do, the innocent face on them is taken on them and they have to know.

She added: “It doesn’t prevent me from living anywhere but it makes you more aware of situations.”

Speaking at the Peter Mark VIP style awards, Claudine said she’s also delighted to watch her sons, Robert Junior and Hudson enjoy an Irish upbringing.

She said: “We’re here for two months. Rob has some Irish games over here. He has the internationals.

“Then we go back and forth to London because of his Sky Sports gig too.

“Robert started in Malahide, actually in my old school. My brother’s fiancee is his teacher.

“He’s delighted. He loves it. He’s made so many friends.

“It is a different life. You can go out on your bike on your own, have sleepovers with your friends, in America, everything you do in America you have to drive and it’s not as much of a community as it is here."
