Claudine Keane pays touching tribute to 'second mum' who died from breast cancer

Model Claudine Keane has paid tribute to her beloved aunt who passed away from breast cancer.

The wife of footie legend Robbie Keane opened up about her “second mum” Ann, who passed away from breast cancer five years ago.

Speaking on the day of her anniversary, mum-of-two Claudine said: “This week we celebrate my Aunt Ann who lost her battle with breast cancer five years ago. My second mum. The one who helped me fill out my CEO, the one I would call for advice, the one who leaves a huge void.”

The former Miss Ireland said her family always prefer to “celebrate her with memories”, paying tribute to Robbie for “always being understanding”.

“We always celebrate her with memories, butterflies & flowers that’s why I love this picture she loved her flowers and her garden. Each year I learnt instead of sadness to be grateful for the time we had her presence. Thanks to this man for always being understanding in this week when our thoughts are elsewhere.

“Family are like branches of a tree we may move in different directions but our roots will always stay the same. I may have moved away and travelled a lot but the loved ones we miss are Always in my heart today & forever.”

In 2019, Claudine spoke about how her favourite song was Songbird by Eva Cassidy because her aunt Ann loved the tune.

“It's a song that has a lot of meaning for me. Mary Black sang that for us, when I walked down the aisle,” she says, referring to her wedding to Robbie in June 2008, "which was a very special moment. Also, my auntgodmother, Anne, who passed away from breast cancer, loved that song. It has a lot of emotional attachment for me."
