Comedian Sir Lenny Henry and TV presenter Claudia Winkleman are among the famous faces at Wimbledon day eight as the second week of the championships kicks off.

Sir Lenny, 67, who began his career as the winner of TV talent show New Faces in 1975, sported a brown suit over a cream shirt and tie as he arrived at the tournament with partner Lisa Makin.

Attending the championships alongside her husband Kris Thykier, Traitors host Winkleman embraced Wimbledon whites with a cream blazer jacket and trousers paired with a white T-shirt and shoes.

American tennis star Billie Jean King, who was portrayed by Emma Stone in the 2017 film Battle of the Sexes, also took her seat in the royal box to watch the action on Centre Court.

The former world number one won 39 grand slam titles and secured her first major singles win at Wimbledon in 1966, before claiming all three titles in 1972.

At the 1979 championships, King made history when she secured her 20th title by winning in the doubles alongside Martina Navratilova.

King was joined in the box by Swiss tennis champion Roger Federer, who took his seat beside former British player Debbie Jevan.

Wimbledon veteran Federer held the record for the most men’s singles match wins in the grand slam’s history – until he was surpassed by Novak Djokovic on Sunday.

Pictured greeting Federer were the Duchess of Gloucester, the Princess of Wales’s mother Carole Middleton, who wore a pale blue blazer, and Kate’s sister Pippa Matthews, who opted for a summery white dress dotted with red flowers.

As patron of the All England Club, Kate visited the grounds on Thursday to hand out tickets to those in Wimbledon’s famous queue, and watched British men’s singles hopeful Arthur Fery play his second-round match against Finland’s Otto Virtanen.

Elsewhere, actor Ncuti Gatwa, who played the 15th Doctor in long-running BBC series Doctor Who, was spotted at the grounds wearing a pale grey, check-patterned suit.

Photographed with a glass of Pimm’s in hand, TV chef Prue Leith brought the colour with a flowery dress, statement spectacles and jewellery.
