Classic Nokia 'brick' phone to make an unexpected comeback including Snake game

Although consumers these days are used to advanced technology such as foldable screens and facial recognition, there was a time when being able to carry around a pocket-size phone was amazing in itself.

Those old enough to remember having a mobile in the late 90s and early 2000s will likely remember fond memories of one particular brand.

Nokia phones from that time are still remembered today for a battery life and a level of durability Apple and Samsung could only ever hope to achieve.

As reported by MyLondon, the telecommunications giant has released a re-imagined version of one of its classic 'brick' models to celebrate the device's 20th anniversary.

The 6310 device has a sleek new look and updated screen but retains all of the most important features that fans remember from back in 2001, including the iconic - and addictive - video game Snake.

Keeping the keypad from the original, users picking one up will be forced to relearn how to use a phone without a touch screen.

One of the most welcome returning features is the phone's 21-day battery life, while others include a wireless FM radio and a single rear camera - making selfies a challenge.

Complementing the device's pared back feature list is a refreshingly low price.

You can pick one of the new mobiles up for around £60, which for consumers spending over £1,000 on the latest iPhone will be a real novelty.

First launched in 2001, the 6310 was updated in 2002 as the 6310i and was finally discontinued in 2005.

Finnish tech giant HMD Global is responsible for the phone's revival.

They licensed the Nokia brand earlier this year and now the remastered version has been brought to market.

An HMD Global spokesperson said: “The Nokia 6310 is a classic reimagined for today’s connected user.

“Bringing advanced accessibility, optimised ergonomics, and battery for weeks, it honours everything that Nokia phones stand for. And yes - it still has Snake.

“With accessibility at its core, the refreshed larger push buttons and ample display make screen time more effortless and enjoyable.

“The new zoomed-in menus and larger font options improve readability and text messages can be listened to for ease of use.”
