'Classic Grabban' - Nottingham Forest player ratings as Reds cruise past Huddersfield

On the anniversary of Sabri Lamouchi’s appointment, Nottingham Forest got back to winning ways at the City Ground.

Huddersfield Town were beaten 3-1 thanks to a Lewis Grabban brace and a goal from Ryan Yates, with Karlan Grant scoring a late consolation for the visitors from the penalty spot.

Here’s how Reds reporter Sarah Clapson rated the Forest players at the City Ground.

Brice Samba: Came to the rescue with some strong saves as the visitors tested him a few times. Dealt with anything thrown at him really well, though. Little chance with the penalty. Rating: 8/10

Matty Cash: Played his part in a decent defensive performance, even when the Reds came under a fair bit of pressure. Always alert to any threat. Rating: 7/10

Tobias Figueiredo: Stood strong at the back and helped his team out when their opponents were on the front foot. Chipped in with some important clearances. Rating: 8/10

Joe Worrall: Where did that ball come from?! The defender himself often says he ‘just heads it and kicks it’, but he can add crossing to that list. An absolute peach to tee up Lewis Grabban. Penalty decision looked harsh on first viewing. Rating: 8/10

Yuri Ribeiro: Had a really solid game. Didn’t give too much away and kept his cool when the Terriers pushed forward. Got stuck in with blocks and clearances. Rating: 7/10

Ben Watson: Good to see him back on the pitch, but didn’t look entirely comfortable early on. Thankfully, seemed to shake off any concerns - but was  a little fortunate to not give away a penalty in the first half. Rating: 6/10

Tiago Silva: Much more involved once he pushed further forward in the second half. Generally pretty tidy in possession, even if he wasn’t at his most influential. Rating: 7/10

Sammy Ameobi: Excellent - at both ends of the pitch. Central to much of Forest’s attacking play, including weighing in with a lovely assist. Just as important though, was his clearance from under his own crossbar. Rating: 9/10

Brennan Johnson: Had his moments, particularly in the opening 20 minutes, but then drifted out of the game a little. Still, not bad for only his second Championship start. Rating: 6/10

Joe Lolley: Caused his old team plenty of problems as he made some great runs. Lots of good build-up play and some teasing crosses. Has looked fresh since the restart. Rating: 8/10

Lewis Grabban: Classic Grabban. Two chances and two brilliant finishes. He is coolness personified and absolutely deadly in front of goal. Worked so hard, too, and could have had a hat-trick. Rating: 9/10

Subs
Ryan Yates (for Johnson, 46): Made sure of the three points with a late goal. Had put in a real shift, too, getting stuck in. Rating: 7/10

Joao Carvalho (for Silva, 73): Went close to getting on the scoresheet and chipped in with some defensive work. Rating: 7/10

Nuno Da Costa (for Ameobi, 73): Looked bright and lively during his short time on the pitch. Rating: 7/10

Alex Mighten (for Lolley, 90+1): Didn’t get too long to make an impact but added fresh legs. Rating: 6/10

John Bostock (for Watson, 90+1): Barely able to touch the ball as the Reds looked to see out the game. Rating: 6/10

Subs not used: Smith, Jenkinson, Dawson, Walker.
