St. Barnabas School will resume classes Wednesday after illness caused more than a quarter of its students and some employees to stay home from school Monday, a representative from the Archdiocese of Chicago said.
After 137 students were sent home sick Monday with influenza A/B, strep and stomach flu, the school announced via email that an “E-learning” day was scheduled for Tuesday instead of in-person classes. Students could access their assignments on their teachers’ Google sites.
Students and staff with the flu were encouraged not to come back to school or work for at least four or five days, the email said.
The school underwent a deep cleaning Tuesday.
