'Class line-up' - Sunderland fans react as Gooch and Scowen start against Peterborough

Sunderland fans have welcomed the news Phil Parkinson has handed starts to Lynden Gooch and Josh Scowen for the visit of Peterborough.

The Black Cats have made three changes from the side which earned their first league victory of the season at Oxford United last time out.

Captain Max Power misses out after picking up a hamstring injury at the Kassam Stadium, with Scowen taking his place in the heart of midfield.

The front two of Danny Graham and Aidan O'Brien from last weekend are dropped to the bench, with Parkinson opting for the partnership of Gooch and Charlie Wyke. Promising youngster Jack Diamond is handed a spot on the bench.

The team news announcement from the club was largely met with praise by supporters, who believe the starting eleven could be the strongest available to Parkinson.

However, the inclusion of Wyke was met with criticism by some on social media, with many questioning the decision to drop Graham or O'Brien in favour of the target man.

Here's how Sunderland fans reacted to the starting eleven for the clash with Peterborough:

'Yes Gooch and Scowen'

'Best lineup'

'Good to see'

'Class lineup'

'About time'

'F is for fire'

Not Wyke
