'Class' - Arsenal and Scotland fans delighted with Kieran Tierney in Liverpool star's absence

Kieran Tierney made his 15th appearance for Scotland on Sunday in their narrow Nations League defeat to Slovakia.

A first-half goal courtesy of Jan Gregus sealed all three points for the hosts, with the result ending Scotland's nine-game unbeaten run.

Despite the outcome, Steve Clarke's side were dominant throughout the match and will be feeling they should have taken at least a point from the encounter.

Tierney was one of Scotland's better performers, with the Arsenal defender playing in his preferred position on the left side of defence.

The 23-year-old usually fills in at centre-back for Scotland with Andy Robertson deployed at left wing back, but the Liverpool defender was forced to miss Sunday's game with a hamstring issue.

Arsenal and Scotland fans reacted with excitement to Tierney's performance, with many claiming he is a better player than Robertson while with the national team.

Here's what they had to say on Twitter...

@EvanMcFarlane : Kieran Tierney is a better player for Scotland than Andy Robertson and it’s a damn shame he’ll only get to play in his actual position when the latter isn’t there.

@hampdenroarpod : Kieran Tierney was absolutely brilliant tonight. He offered much more at LWB than Robertson has in the last few months. No chance of it happening, but I wonder if we'd improve further playing KT there over AR and having Cooper play LCB.

@afcRommy : Tierney was fantastic today for Scotland playing at LEFT BACK. His actual position. Such a shame he’s been wasted at LCB for us for months.

@samtaylor135 : Best player on the park. Unfortunately Robertson will come straight back in...

@aconnolly91 : I forgot how good Tierney was on the left. What a waste playing him in a 3.

@DonsEssex : Tough call where to play Tierney. Showed today he is a class wing back so could easily play him right wing back with Robbo on the left.... but not having him and McTominay bring the ball out from the back three today was very obvious.

@StevenFairlie: If you tell me Roberson is a better left back than Tierney I’m telling you that you are wrong!! Tierney, in this team, should be our left back!

@DarrenConway16 : How good is Tierney on that left hand side tho? Done more than Robertson has done in quite a while.
