Class 10 Udaipur teen approaches IG to get her own marriage stopped

UDAIPUR: A class 10 girl of Akola village in Udaipur district approached the IG of Udaipur range to get her marriage stopped.

The IG in turn informed the Akola police who warned the girl's parents and presented them before the Child Welfare Committee. During counselling in CWC, the girl refused to go to her house. She was provided shelter at Asra Vikaas Sansthan.

According to Akola SHO Onkar Singh, IG Udaipur Range Hinglajdan informed that a 16-year-old girl had come to him for getting her marriage stopped. The police officers immediately reached Udaipur where the girl told them that her brother was going to get married on April 24 and her parents wanted her to also get married on the same day.

The girl told Hinglajdan that she was currently studying in class 10 and wanted to study and become a teacher. On the instructions of the IG, Akola police reached the village, warned the girl's family members and presented her in front of the CWC. Ramesh Dashora, former chairman of the CWC, said the girl refused to go home and said she wanted to stay here and complete her studies.
