Clarke-Harris, Ogogo and Little: Latest Bristol Rovers injury news ahead of Peterborough United

The hectic festive period is infamous for injury problems, and Bristol Rovers have their fair share of players on the treatment table as Christmas nears.

Kevin Maher n Saturday with a pair of senior players to miss out, and there are question marks over their talismanic striker, too.

Here is the latest from medical room.

Jonson Clarke-Harris

The number nine suffered a calf strain earlier in the season which ruled him out for several weeks, but he has returned from that injury without exacerbating the problem.

However, he has missed Rovers' past two games – at Ipswich Town and Plymouth Argyle – with a dead leg, and it is touch and go whether he will return for Saturday's game.

: "We'll look at Jonno and see where he is today. It would be great if he could (play), but we will assess him today and take it from there."

Abu Ogogo

The all-action midfielder has been ruled out of the Peterborough game with a hand injury sustained in training.

He has been a pivotal player for Rovers all season, bringing steel and valuable goals to the Gas midfield, and Maher said he hopes the 30-year-old will be able to return in time for Boxing Day.

Mark Little

Like Ogogo, Rovers will be without the defender against the Posh. Little has a niggling calf problem and missed the trips to Ipswich and Plymouth, but the Pirates' medical team hope he will return to the fold over Christmas.

Maher said: "Hopefully he'll be back on the grass next week. It's been a bit of an ongoing calf thing, so hopefully won't be too long."

Tom Davies

Tom Davies of Bristol Rovers. (Ryan Hiscott/JMP)

Tendinitis in Davies' knee has seen him on the sidelines for two months, and he is set to remain there for a little while longer.

Rovers' corps of central defenders is one of the team's great strengths, but with only three – Rollin Menayese, Tony Craig and Alfie Kilgour – fit and playing every game the Gas will hope Davies can return in the new year to bolster their options.

Josh Hare

Hare enjoyed a good start to the season which was cruelly halted by an ACL injury against Gillingham.

The latest is the right-wing-back is making good progress, but is unlikely to be seen in the blue and white quarters again at least until the spring.

Sam Matthews

The midfielder has not featured at all this season following knee surgery in the summer, and talk of a return to the pitch still appears some way off.
