Clark, Saint-Maximin and the Howe decisions Newcastle fans question ahead of Man City clash

Eddie Howe has made five changes from Newcastle United's defeat against Liverpool for the visit of Manchester City.

The Magpies are unbeaten in their last five home encounters with the reigning Premier League champions, but the odds are firmly stacked against Howe's side picking up a second win of the season.

The head coach warned he would rotate his side following a testing week, and his selection has seen Jamal Lewis, Javier Manquillo, Allan Saint-Maximin, Fabian Schar, and Jonjo Shelvey drop out of the side.

Lewis was forced off early at Anfield with a hamstring injury, while Manquillo and Shelvey's absence from the matchday squad altogether is as of yet unexplained.

Ciaran Clark returns to partner Jamaal Lascelles in defence, with Miguel Almiron, Matt Ritchie, Joe Willock and Callum Wilson also restored to the starting eleven.

There are also places on the bench for Academy graduates Elliot Anderson and Joe White.

This is how Newcastle United fans reacted to Howe's team selection for the visit of the Premier League champions.

'Concede more than Leeds'

.

'Doomed aren't we'

'Feel so unsafe'

'Well done Eddie Howe'

'Where's my boy?'

'Wow'
