Clarity needed from government as confusion continues to reign around indoor summer camps

Confusion continues to reign around indoor summer camps — with organisers seeking clarity from Government.

Current guidelines say indoor activities such as group training and exercise will not go ahead.

A response to a parliamentary question in June stated: “Summer camps may proceed, however, camp organisers must ensure adherence to the public health measures in place at the time of the summer camp”.

However, yesterday the Department of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media said indoor activities including summer camps and training cannot go ahead.

The mixed messages have cause major confusion for families and organisers .

Earlier this week, Minister Catherine Martin stated: “Indoor activities, such as organised events including summer camps, group training, exercise and dance, are not currently permitted but the Government is keeping all matters under constant review.”
