Man jailed for 28 years after 'woman dreamed he raped her' to get retrial

A Colorado man who spent three decades in prison after a woman dreamed that he raped her may soon go free.

Denver District Court Judge Kandace Gerdes overturned Clarence Moses-El’s 1988 conviction, after he had served more than half of his 48-year sentence, local television 9News reported.

The ruling was confirmed on December 14 by a Facebook support page entitled “Free Clarence Moses-EL.”

The rape victim — a neighbour of Mr Moses-El’s, whose identity has not been established in reports — initially identified him as her attacker after his face came to her in a dream.

Blood stains on evidence collected from the scene of the crime were re-tested last year and belonged to another man, subsequently identified by the victim as the real assailant, 9News said. The man, LC Jackson, had reportedly confessed to having assaulted the victim, but said that he had become angry and hit the woman during consensual intercourse.

Judge Gerdes has ordered a retrial for Mr Moses-El, 9News added.
