Clare school closed after staff identified as 'close contacts' of Covid-19 patient

A primary school in Co Clare has been forced to close its doors after staff members were identified as "close contacts" of a Covid-19 patient.

A text sent to parents of children attending the school seen by the Irish Mirror, revealed that it could not remain open without any permanent member of staff.

Parents were contacted this afternoon and the school intends to shut for a week and reopen on 9 September unless advised otherwise.

The text added that no pupil had been deemed a close contact to date and the issue "currently has no implications for students."

"We regret the closure of the school but we are obliged to follow the HSE guidelines,” it concluded.

It's believed about 100 children attend the school which is located in a small village.
