Clare Grogan announces Altered Images reunion with band set to release new music for first time in 40 years

Scottish band Altered Images has announced a comeback and will release new music for the first time in almost 40 years.

Singer Claire Grogan shared the news with her Twitter followers and revealed the band had recorded a new album, which will be coming out some time in 2022.

The band have signed a deal with Cooking Vinyl, who also manages the likes of The Fratellis, Nina Nesbitt, The Darkness, Passenger and more.

The band hit success in the early 1980s when they had six UK top 40 hit singles and three top 30 albums between 1981 and 1983.

Their hit songs included "Happy Birthday", "I Could Be Happy", "See Those Eyes", and "Don't Talk to Me About Love" before their last album 'Bite' was released in 1983.

The reunion sees the full band come back together for the project including front-woman Grogan, Bernard Butler, Bobby Bluebell, Stephen Lironi and original Altered Images bass player Johnny McElhone.

Grogan told Music Week: “I’m totally thrilled to find myself in this position, can’t explain why it felt the right moment in time to make a new Altered Images record but I found myself compelled to make it happen and very fortunate to know so many talented people to call on to join in. I can’t wait to get it out there!”

Since finding fame in the band, Clare has also acted in other projects like Red Dwarf, EastEnders, Father Ted, and Skins.

She has also become a presenter on UK television in recent years as well as a children's novelist.
