Clare Balding made more than £500,000 from her TV presenting duties and books last year.

The sports broadcaster, 44, made £538,472 in the year to the end of October 2014.

A financial filing for her company, Clearly Clare, shows she has £1.24m in shareholders’ funds as at 31 October.

That is an increase of £538,472 on the shareholders’ funds figure from 31 October 2013, which is effectively the amount she earned during last year.

The company has just over £1m cash in the bank, up from £362,897 the year before.

According to the documents Balding’s company receives income from her television presenting for the BBC and BT and from royalties as an author.

Balding published her highly successful first book, My Animals and Other Family, in 2012 followed by a volume on rambling, Walking Home, last year.

She is also a director of a second company, Clearly Clare Productions, which had shareholders’ funds of just £12,586 in the year to the end of April 2014.
