Clapham South stabbing: Teenage boy, 17, arrested of suspicion of murder following death of Malcolm Mide-Madariola

A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after 17-year-old college student Malcolm Mide-Madariola was stabbed to death outside Clapham South Tube station.

The male suspect, also 17, remains in custody after being detained following the fatal stabbing in Balham Hill.

Mr Mide-Madaloria was rushed to hospital after the incident, at around 4.35pm on Friday, but died a short time after.

Scotland Yard is continuing to search for information surrounding his death.

Detective Chief Inspector John Massey said: “While we have made an arrest and this investigation continues to move at pace I would reiterate my appeal for information.

“The stabbing in Balham Hill followed an altercation a few minutes earlier involving two small groups of young males near to Clapham South Underground station. However I don’t believe anyone involved had travelled on the tube.

“There were a large number of people present when emergency services arrived at the scene, and although many have come forward, I want to ensure that we have spoken to all potential witnesses.”

Friends of Mr Mide-Madaloria, who lived in Peckham, has been described as a “sweet” boy and piles of floral tributes have been left for him.

A friend of his, who wished not to be named, said: "He was sweet and nice and he always used to message me if he knew I was sad."

A post-mortem into his death is being held on November 5.
