Police have charged a man linked to multiple sex attacks in Clapham, after a string of reports of women being followed and assaulted.
Mehdi Midani, 24, was arrested in Brixton Hill on Monday. He has been charged with six counts of sexual assault and two counts of exposure over the course of nine days, between 22 and 31 October.
Midani, of no fixed abode, has been remanded in custody to appear at Camberwell Green magistrates court on Wednesday.
Nine women, aged between 23 and 35, have been attacked in a series of sexual assaults in Clapham and Brixton between 9 and 31 of October, which police believe are linked.
Officers have also arrested three other men in connection with the assaults, with two men aged 30 and 34 bailed pending further inquiries, and another 32-year-old man arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Police have urged women in the area to be vigilant, and said it was continuing to investigate all reported incidents.
Met commander Simon Letchford said on Tuesday: “We have linked, we believe, nine cases, we are going to keep an open mind on that. It may well be that we have one attacker, it may well be that we have copycat individuals, but we certainly will keep an open mind.”
