Clapham murder: Man, 27, killed in double shooting in south-west London

A young man has been killed in a double shooting in Clapham.

Police were called to reports of a shooting on New Park Road shortly before 9pm on Monday.

Officers attended along with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service who treated two men, aged 20 and 27, for gunshot wounds before taking them to hospital.

Despite the best efforts of medical staff, the 27-year-old died in hospital in the early hours of the morning on Tuesday.

The Met Police has said the victim’s family has been notified and is being supported by specialist officers.

The force said the 20-year-old man’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing and he remains in hospital.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee, who is leading the investigation, said: “My team are working at pace to establish the full circumstances that led to this man’s tragic death.

“Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends at this very difficult time. They continue to be supported by specialist officers.

“A crime scene remains in place and residents can expect to see increased patrols in the local area as we carry out enquiries.

“We urge anyone in or around New Park Road to look at any doorbell or camera footage and share anything that may be of use with police.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We were called at 8.50pm last night (8 September) to reports of a shooting in Forster Road, SW2.

“We sent two ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer and a paramedic from our tactical response unit to the scene.

“We also dispatched two advanced trauma teams in cars from London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated two patients at the scene and took them both to a major trauma centre as a priority.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police by calling 101 or online, quoting CAD 7805/08Sep25, or by contacting the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
