Claire Foy's stalker she feared would kill her deported to US after 'terrifying' campaign

Claire Foy's stalker who left her fearing for her life has been sentenced to 22 months’ imprisonment, suspended for two years, for one count of stalking and two counts of breaching an interim stalking order.

Jason Penrose, 49, from America, has been handed a suspended sentence at the Old Bailey and has agreed to be repatriated to the US.

He left the actress terrified after sending her publicist over 1,000 emails – as well as turning up at Claire's home.

It's believed that one of his disgusting emails sent to Emma Jackson, Claire's publicist, referred to rape.

However, Penrose went one step further and turned up at Claire's family home and continued to ring the doorbell on the property on December 17, 2021.

Last month he pleaded guilty to stalking Foy between August 2021 and February 2022.

Penrose also admitted two charges of breaching an interim stalking ban order by sending a letter and a parcel to the Golden Globe winner who played the young Queen in the first two series of The Crown.

The incidents have left The Crown star, 38, terrified and suffering from sleepless nights as well as begging people she works with not to stage her in social media snaps in case Penrose finds her location.

Penrose, who is in the UK illegally, will be deported following sentencing, after he was held in hospital for mental health treatment for almost a year.

Mr Penrose launched a "campaign of consistent stalking" by sending thousands of emails, eight switchboard messages and attending Ms Foy's home.

On the night in question, when the intercom was answered by Claire's daughter, he said: "It's Jason, I'm outside," leaving Foy "in genuine fear for her safety and terrified and helpless in her own home".

Initially making contact, Penrose emailed Claire's agent pretending to be a movie producer and a scriptwriter with a $20m deal with Warner Brothers Studio.

Varinder Hayre, prosecuting, previously told the court: "He talked about the victim Ms Foy being raped and wanted her to be his girlfriend. There were pictures of Mr Penrose himself in various hotels and locations in Camden.

"Ms Foy was terrified as she did not know what his intention was. She was in fear for her and her daughter's lives, she was frightened knowing he was somewhere."

He also contacted Foy's sister by email, ex-boyfriend via text and tried to contact Ms Foy via Instagram and Linkedin.

In a letter read to the court, Claire said: "His relentless attempts to contact me are so traumatic. Every time I think this is sorted it is not.

"I feel like there is nothing that would stop him being able to contact me, he has affected every aspect of my life."

A judge had imposed a five-year stalking protection order against Penrose in July after the actress raised "great concerns due to the nature of the communications".
