Claire Foy has been a successful actress for well over a decade, but a few years ago she caught the attention of the wider world (and Hollywood) with her performance as Queen Elizabeth II in Netflix series The Crown.
The role won her Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG awards - and along with some typically self-deprecating acceptance speeches, Foy proved she could turn a great look on the red carpet too.
As a new Queen, played by Olivia Colman, takes over her role in The Crown, Foy has been busy expanding her ouevre in other ways as fierce hacker Lisbeth Salander in The Girl In The Spider’s Web, in psychological thriller Unsane and as Janet Armstrong in First Man, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination.
While Foy has a natural talent for leading roles, the British actress rejects the term “strong women.”
“I have absolutely no interest in portraying what other people think of as strong. It’s a way of making women more acceptable in a male world,” she told the Sydney Morning Herald in an October interview. “I think we know we are all strong but we’re just crying out to see women on screen at all!”
Foy likes to experiment on the red carpet. Whether she's wearing her signature high-waisted trousers or numerous Erdem floral gowns, the actress loves embellished details and alternates between monochrome classics and more daring pieces. Her go-to designers include Valentino, Gucci, and Fendi.
