Nagpur: Maharashtra BJP president Ravindra Chavan on Wednesday termed the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led agitation against alleged irregularities in NEET examination as "sponsored", and claimed that those behind the protest will be exposed within a few days.
Chavan was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a programme here.
"This (CJP protest in Delhi) is a sponsored agitation. A huge wave of development is currently underway across the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Narendra Modi," he said.
Action has been taken against seven to eight persons in connection with the NEET paper leak case, he said.
"They have been arrested and are in jail," Chavan said.
The Opposition bloc has different agendas and they are trying to find opportunities for themselves in this protest, he alleged.
"In a few days, it will become known who has sponsored this agitation and that will be revealed to the public," he said.
Earlier in the day, Chavan participated in 'Mahayagya' programme to mark Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' birthday in Nagpur.
The CJP-led agitation began on June 20, demanding accountability over alleged examination irregularities, reforms in the education system and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Activist Sonam Wangchuk, who joined the protest on June 28 and has been on an indefinite hunger strike since then, has continued his fast from Medanta Hospital after being shifted there from Safdarjung Hospital following a Delhi High Court order.
On Tuesday, Opposition leaders, including Congress MPs Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav were forcibly removed by police after they staged a dharna outside the Prime Minister's residence in Delhi, demanding his resignation. They were released after a few hours.
