CJ McCollum carried on the tradition of Ohio natives performing in Game 7s on the road when he dropped 37 points in a victory over the Denver Nuggets on Sunday afternoon.
The performance caught the eye of LeBron James, for more than a couple of reasons. But McCollum didn’t let the moment escape him before also giving a shout out to his fellow 330 area code native, mostly because of his chasedown block against Jamal Murray in the victory. McCollum clearly relished comparing himself to the King in miniature.
McCollum, Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers moved on to the Western Conference Finals, which begin tonight with Game 1 in Oakland against the two-time defending champion Warriors.
LeBron will likely chime in during the games, but he’s been pretty quiet about his actual basketball team aside from liking a few posts on instagram. At the same time he’s been quiet, his employer seems to be targeting him as a reason for their dysfunction.
