'City need to be professional' - What we think will happen during Bristol City v Wigan

Gregor MacGregor, Bristol City Reporter

Do you expect any changes to the team?

Yes; with three games in a week then there will surely be some squad rotation. For a start, there are rumours that Andi Weimann has broken his foot and if that is proven true then another forward will be needed.

Matty Taylor could benefit if the team stays at 3-5-2. Elsewhere, it would be a tough ask for Jack Hunt and Jay Dasilva to play another game as wing-backs. That could point to Lloyd Kelly starting and possibly Eros Pisano.

'Abysmal away form' - the Inside Line on Wigan that means Bristol City have a good chance

Who will be City's key man and why?

Famara Diedhiou hasn't scored for four games but he has played well in two tough games in a row and he deserves some luck in front of goal, if not some good service.

He could be the man to profit from an Dasilva, Kelly, Paterson or Hunt crosses.

Is there anything about the opposition that concerns you?

They've had two decent results in the league recently and a team near the foot of the table at this stage of the season is always desperate for the win and sometimes a more dangerous proposition.

Joe Garner and Nick Powell will need good marking - especially on set-pieces.

How do you expect the game to go and what's your predicted scoreline?

City need to get the home form going and this could be the day for them. I foresee a 2-0 win, with the Ashton Gate crowd fully behind them.

Prediction: Bristol City 2-0 Wigan

Wigan ravaged by injuries ahead of Bristol City clash at Ashton Gate

James Piercy, Sports Editor

What changes would you make to the team?

Six points from two games with a back three implies that any change to the system should be minimal, however Andi Weimann's injury does throw a slight spanner in the works.

If Korey Smith is fit enough to replace him does that mean the formation remains and Josh Brownhill is shifted further forward or does Lee Johnson revert back to his 4-1-4-1 without the Austrian forward?

I'd like to see Niclas Eliasson given a shot or, to be slightly more controversial, Antoine Semenyo as Wigan are likely to pitch up at Ashton Gate, dig in and build a wall; the Robins will need that bit of extra craft in the final third.

Who will be City's key man and why?

It has to be an attacking player because, quite simply, I don't envisage Wigan doing an awful amount of attacking themselves. With that in mind, I think the onus will fall on Paterson, Brownhill and/or Eliasson to create something special.

There was an openess in the games against Sheffield United and Middlesbrough, as the hosts went on the offensive, the Robins are unlikely to have at Ashton Gate, should the Latics sit deep.

All the excellent transitional attacking play they showcased last week won't be as effective so they will have to be patient and figure a way out of the maze. That is where clever players like Paterson and Eliasson come into focus.

What Bristol City, Hull City and Stoke City target has said about his Derby County future after rumours

Is there anything about the opposition that concerns you?

Reece James is a potential threat from right-back, should Wigan be successful in counter-attacking and his duel with fellow Chelsea loanee Jay Dasilva is a nice, interesting little subplot. But overall the real concern is more that the visitors will close the space and completely smother City, much like Leeds successfully did last month.

City are an excellent attacking team when areas are opened up and they can move the ball quickly.

How do you expect the game to go and what's your predicted scoreline?

Wigan to sit, frustrate, lots of tactical fouls, kill the atmosphere and make it really, really tough for City to gain any rhythm. That, in turn, could lead to anxiety on the pitch and the stands and when that happens it just has a spiralling effect.

But, let's be honest, Wigan are one of the poorer Championship teams, are dreadful away from home (six points on the road all season), City need to be professional and play their own percentages and should get the job done

Prediction: Bristol City 2-0 Wigan

Liverpool legend's advice helped influence Lee Johnson's Bristol City goalkeeper gamble

Krishan Davis, Sports Reporter

What changes would you make, if any, and what lineup would you like to see?

Going into what is - on paper - an easier game than their previous two, there is no rhyme nor reason in making changes after back-to-back wins.

However, doubts over the fitness of Weimann and Korey Smith mean there may well be an opportunity for Kasey Palmer or Niclas Eliasson, while Lloyd Kelly may rotate back in after two starts in a week for Jay Dasilva.

Who will be City's key man and why?

Adam 'Webdini' Webster was the unlikely hero on Wednesday but I would expect key contributions from a more conventional route against weaker opposition.

Although his link-up play has been exemplary, Famara Diedhiou is due a goal after a two-month drought, while Josh Brownhill has been equally busy but hasn't scored or assisted since January. Something's gotta give.

Is there anything about the opposition that concerns you?

As the Robins discovered earlier this season, Wigan are no mugs. They are looking like the most likely side to escape the drop and clearly still pose an attacking threat after sticking five past Bolton.

However, losing Michael Jacobs to injury is a huge blow, with him, Gavin Massey and Nick Powell forming a dangerous union behind Joe Garner. Injuries to fellow wingers Callum McManaman and Gary Roberts will leave Paul Cook with a dilemma.

How do you expect the game to go and what's your predicted scoreline?

Riding on a wave of confidence after two tough away wins, surely Bristol will return to Ashton Gate and run the relegation threatened side ragged.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Robins start quickly and go two up before half-time, before a more pragmatic approach in the second period with their legs likely feeling the third game in a week. They might just nick another at the end.

Prediction: Bristol City 3-0 Wigan
