City installs creepy bollards shaped like schoolchildren

Creepy bollards shaped like children have been attracting attention with some people saying they should be installed near every school in the city. Nottingham residents have praised the idea behind the bollards because it 'makes drivers be more cautious'.

Robert Stone said he was fooled by the bollards when he first drove down the road. "I really thought they were children", the 58-year-old added.

"I was shocked at first. So I think it is a very good idea. I think they could make them look more life-like. They are a bit creepy."

Bader Munir, who works at a school on Windmill Lane, in Sneinton, where the bollards are said the measure is "brilliant". The 41-year-old told Nottinghamshire Live: "The children love them.

"They are very useful. I do not find them creepy."

She went on and said: "I think we need them outside every school in Nottingham."

Tourists, Ankit and Shilpi Jain, who were visiting the city for the first time, said they have never seen bollards like these anywhere else. Originally from India, they said: "We have been to 14 countries and we have never seen these before.

"It is an amazing idea. It makes people more cautious while driving. And they become more aware."
