City in shock as girl stabbed in street while with her friends

People in Liverpool have been left "shaken" and "terrified" after a girl was stabbed following reports of a row with group of boys.

Merseyside Police and the North West Ambulance Service scrambled to Church Street in Liverpool city centre at around 8.39pm on Thursday, November 25 following reports of a girl being stabbed.

It is believed the victim was with friends on Church Alley, close to the busy shopping street, when what police described as a "verbal argument" broke out with a group of boys.

A cordon was in place on Church Street and Church Alley, with several surrounding streets also blocked off. The cordon was reportedly extended to Hanover Street.

Several police cars remained at the scene this evening as enquiries continued.

Police are now asking for information.

A spokesperson said: "A police cordon has been put in place on Church Street and Church Alley whilst forensic examinations are carried out and we would ask members of the public for their understanding and patience whilst our investigations are being carried out."
