City Guides: Paris 1968 walking tour

The 90-minute podcast, presented by Agnes Poirier, is designed to be downloaded and listened to on your digital audio player as you take the walking tour in Paris from the Latin Quarter to the Champs Elysees.

Professor Jacques Capdevielle, a student in Paris during the riots, and historian Andrew Hussey join Agnes Poirier along the journey, retelling the events and their significance. Along the way they meet philosophers Professor AC Grayling and Alain Finkielkraut, BBC correspondent Caroline Wyatt, film critics Nick James and Edward Waitrop, art historian Sarah Wilson and writer Olivier Rolin who put these events in a wider social, artistic and political context. Musicians Sarah Harrison and Lee Clark provide specially recorded musical accompaniment.

The '68 podcast works as a real-time audio guide for the Paris walk. There is an enhanced version, enriched with archive pictures which you can view on your mp3 player as you go, plus guardian.co.uk have created a downloadable map you can take with you. However the programme also functions as a stand-alone documentary, telling the story of the Paris riots through an evocative mix of original and archive material.
