Boat commuters on main routes in Bangkok will have to pay more from Thursday when new fare scales come into force.

Fares for the Chao Phraya Express service and Saen Saeb canal boats will rise by one baht, while ferries on the Chao Phraya River will up their rates by 50 satang, the Marine Department said on Wednesday.

The increases were approved after diesel prices stayed above 25 baht per litre for 10 consecutive days, increasing operating costs.

Diesel has sold at 25.01 baht in Bangkok and vicinity since Aug 30.
