City centre street sealed off after car smashes into hairdressing school

Emergency services sealed off a busy Liverpool street this evening after a car crashed into a hairdressing school.

Police were called to Renshaw Street in the city centre on Friday to attend the incident, in which a driver is believed to have lost control and careered into Michael John Academy.

Footage from the scene showed a police cordon around the salon, which had a broken window, and nearby shops.

The crash happened opposite Grand Central.

Ambulances and fire engines were also spotted in the immediate aftermath of the incident.

The white Mercedes was retrieved and towed away.

No other vehicles are believed to be involved.

Merseyside Police confirmed that Renshaw Street and Heathfield Street were closed off while the recovery was going on.

There were no reports of any injuries.

There have been several car crashes this week in Merseyside, with three crashes on Liverpool roads on Thursday alone .
